Silvia Brum - Visual Artist

Sílvia Brum studied Architecture and Urbanism in Porto Alegre, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in Brazil, where she worked until she began painting. Since that time, she attended various painting classes, participated in national and international collective exhibitions and then made an individual exhibition at the MERCOSUL - Integration Center in Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul. Photography began to be part of her life when she was living in Paris, offering new a support to her creativity.

Her style that reveal itself in her way to capture the essence of each subject, through light and sha- dows, colors, shapes and composition, has been very impacted by her training and her back story. Currently her works are oils on canvas with mixed technique, representing the human figure. Through this set of MDF tridimensional paintings, called MIMETISM - in which some concealed faces are emerging from the canvas opening for us some new perspectives on women´s emotional subjectivity and on the social problems they will have to face in our contem-porary world - the artist is inviting the viewer to reflect on the feminine universe.
